Instructions for getting a Mounjaro prescription from your doctor

October 26, 2022

To get Mounjaro, you will have to get a prescription from a doctor. While some doctors are familiar with Mounjaro, it is a new drug so many doctors will not understand its benefits and how to help you get it. This section is meant to make it easy for you to communicate with your doctor to get the prescription.

The first thing to decide is which doctor to visit for getting your prescription. We suggest you consider making an appointment with your primary care doctor or endocrinologist. If you do not have a primary care doctor there are telehealth clinics that you may be able to visit (but these have additional costs - more on this soon).

After you have your appointment, you will have to explain to your doctor why you would like to try Mounjaro, and how medical studies have shown it is safe and effective for people like you. To help you do this, we've made a printable template you can hand to your doctor.
