My doctor won’t prescribe me Mounjaro. Help please

My doc said it was only recently FDA approved for diabetes and not weight loss so she couldn’t prescribe it to me (I’m not diabetic). This was her note after asking someone else about it, “It is only FDA approved for diabetes right now & not weight loss. It is not recommended to send it for weight loss and insurance would deny it as well for this indication.”

What do I do?

It is only FDA approved for diabetes but some doctors are willing to prescribe for off-label use (which is perfectly legal). Lilly has been doing weight loss studies and will probably apply for FDA approval for weight loss in the future.

Your doctor is technically correct but it can be written off label for weight loss and Mounjaro has a $25 coupon. Many on here have used telehealth providers to get prescription at a pretty reasonable price. Try using Alpha or Push.
